Fine and Dandy Events

Negative experience: We booked Fine and Dandy to decorate our wedding venue in October, but sadly had a poor experience from start to finish. I’ve never written a bad review before, but I hope sharing this prevents other couples from going through the stress we did, or encourages the business to review its practices. The biggest issue was communication. After a lovely initial consultation, we booked one of their packages and paid the deposit. I emailed for confirmation, but after several calls and messages, it took over a month to receive a reply—simply saying they’d been busy with wedding season. A quick “deposit received” email would have taken seconds and saved weeks of chasing. In early July, we tried to arrange our final meeting to confirm costs and check what we might need to source ourselves. Three emails went unanswered. I then messaged via WhatsApp, receiving only “I’ll check my diary” before being ignored again. After seven weeks of silence and five more messages, we sent a complaint explaining how stressful this was. The response was a half-hearted apology—“sorry you feel this way”—and reassurance we’d be their “priority in October.” They also said we’d have access to all their stock, which didn’t address our concerns about missing items or unclear costs. We were told our final payment was overdue, yet they’d wait until after our meeting, which was kind of them since we’d been trying to arrange one for months. We finally met less than two months before the wedding, at 7 p.m. on a weeknight, after travelling from Derby to Nottingham. The meeting started 40 minutes late because another couple’s appointment overran, with no effort to move things along. We expected at least an acknowledgment of the poor communication or some goodwill gesture—none came. During the meeting, we were told the owner was going to New York and would land back the day before our wedding. This surprised us, as the venue (where Fine and Dandy is a recommended supplier) requires setup the day before. She claimed we had requested same-day setup, which was untrue, and dismissed our concern about potential flight delays. Despite promises that we’d be a “priority,” emails still went unanswered for over a week. On calls, we were spoken over, and items we’d added in the final meeting were missing from the invoice. She admitted she’d “forgotten” them, which meant extra last-minute costs even after we’d paid our “final balance.” No updated invoice was sent, and on the day, items we’d discussed—like the LED sign—were missing. Because they only began setup on the wedding morning, it was too late to fix. After months of chasing, we received our seating plan mock-up at 1 p.m. on a Monday with a demand to approve it by 5 p.m. for printing. This gave us four hours—while I was at work and without my partner available to review it. We’d waited three months, yet were rushed within hours. That same evening, my uncle unexpectedly passed away. My husband messaged Fine and Dandy asking to remove his name from the seating plan, which they did. The next morning, I received a kind condolence email—alongside another request to approve the updated seating plan and other signs. Though likely not ill-intentioned, it showed a lack of sensitivity; that message could have gone to my husband instead, as I was grieving. Ultimately, we ended up setting up much of the décor ourselves, with help from our wonderful venue team, because Fine and Dandy weren’t available until the wedding day. Looking back, I wish we’d never booked them. They caused enormous stress and anxiety during what should have been an exciting time. Despite spending a significant amount, I have no idea what we actually paid for. Instead of feeling supported, I was brought to tears multiple times and even dreaded seeing them on the day. If I could give one piece of advice to future couples, it would be to avoid this company. What should have been a joyful, stress-free experience became far more stressful than it would have been decorating ourselves. Everything looked beautiful in the end however I can't put this down to F&D.

Fantastic experience: We had an outstanding experience with Fine and Dandy from start to finish. The décor was absolutely beautiful and exceeded our expectations in every way. Charlotte was professional throughout the entire process, demonstrating amazing communication and ensuring everything was completely stress-free for us. She was reliable, attentive, and truly couldn’t do enough to help. We are so grateful for her dedication and would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for exceptional and unique wedding styling.

Charlotte has an amazing creative eye, and everything looked so beautiful, and it really did have the wow factor. I had previously hired a Christmas styling box from Charlotte which was also fab. Fantastic experience: If you are looking for an honest supplier STOP RIGHT HERE! Charlotte at Fine and Dandy styled our Wedding at The Old Vicarage, Southwell and it was truely breath taking. We first met Charlotte at an open day at our venue and I knew from that moment she just had to be apart of our Wedding journey. We visited the studio based in Carlton with no idea what we wanted and a little nervous to be honest. The nerves soon faded as Charlotte welcomed us in and offered us a drink. We had a little bit of a vision, colour scheme and theme but didn't know how to piece it togethor or what we actually needed for our venue. Within moments Charlotte had re-styled one of her dressed tables and made our vision come to life. We knew then that we was in safe hands for our Wedding day. Charlotte's knowledge our of venue really helped answer any of our questions and helped settle us. We are very greatful for Charlotte's honesty as she didn't try to over style or suggest props we didn't need. Our Wedding had to be postponed due to Covid-19 Charlotte was so prompt at re-arranging, and offered to help find new suppliers if any of our suppliers couldn't accommodate our new date. We can't Thank Charlotte enough for all the support during a stressful time. Our Wedding tables and venue was dressed prefectly and had given us the best memory. All our Wedding guest still talk about it now! Charlotte really is one of the sweetest, kindest and selfless people ive ever met. We was lucky to have her style our Wedding! Fantastic experience: Charlotte has been fantastic. There was so much choice at her studio but she was able to provide great advice based on our tastes. We had to make lots of changes at short notice but Charlotte was always able to accommodate them and put us at ease. I would highly recommend Fine and Dandy for any wedding or event styling.
